1996

  • Feasibility discussion held

  • House renovated
  • Tika Beard, CWH Founder, named Executive Director
  • Survivors at the Summit 1997
  • Ribbon cutting and Grand Opening celebrated
  • Program Launched

 1998

  • Child Life Specialist and Program Coordinator hired
  • Survivors at the Summit 1998
  • In-house accounting system established
  • Cancer Wellness House web-site established
  • Introductory video created
  • Outreach services to Ogden, Park City, and Provo initiated
  • Special Events established (Park City 5K Walk/Run, Birthday Benefit Concert, Robert Pope Art Exhibit)
  • Advocacy efforts initiate (Utah State Legislature Cancer Awareness Day and delegation to The March in Washington DC)

 1999

  • Membership and program offerings expanded
  • Charity of Choice for Sugar House Rotary’s Annual Chili Open fundraiser
  • Fundraising strategy refined (individual donations, foundation grants, corporate contributions, special fundraising events, in-kind donations and memorial gifts)
  • Signature fundraising event Survivors at the Summit expanded to Snowbirds Hidden Peak
  • Leadership development retreat commenced

 2000

  • CWH Program Touchstones defined
  • Common Threads: Weaving Wellness and Grandma Gump walk Cancer Survivors events launched
  • Survivors at the Summit logo unveiled and benefit concert added to Hidden Peak weekend
  • LEAD (Leadership Enhancement and Development) endowment awarded
  • Volunteer involvement and contribution enhanced

 2003

  • Jill Angerbauer named Executive Director of Cancer Wellness House
  • Grounds developed to include Children’s Garden in memorial of Amy Tuck
  • Helping Kids and Teens Cope program established through grants from Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Intermountain Healthcare Foundation

 2004

  • Property renovated to include Yoga Studio

 2005

  • Last Kings Peak Survivors Trek
  • Cancer Wellness House received Cancer Organization of the Year by the Utah Department of Health

 2006

  • $40,000 donation by James Sorenson
  • Special Events CUFF Cancer (Cops United for Fighting Cancer) established by the Deputy Sherriff’s Federation

 2007

  • Katie Porter named Executive Director of Cancer Wellness House
  • Children’s Cottage completed and dedicated
  • Cancer Wellness House celebrates its 10th Anniversary

2008

  • Membership growth through increase outreach efforts
  • Fundraising strategy refined (individual donations, foundation grants, corporate contributions, special fundraising events, in-kind donations and memorial gifts)
  • Cancer Wellness House mission and touchstones refined

2009

  • CWH serves more members than ever before. 
  • Increase those attending cancer support groups by 18%
  • Increase those participating in mind & body workshops by 205%

2010

  • Refined CWH Mission Statement, CWH Values and CWH Touchstones
  • Names New Executive Director Terri Goldstein, CFRE
  • Fundraising strategy refined (individual donations, foundation grants, corporate contributions, special fundraising events, in-kind donations and memorial gifts)
