Survivors at the Summit Hike Guidelines

OVERVIEW:

The distance, elevation gain and the obstacles/difficulties will affect each hikes’ duration. The duration of each hike can be adversely affected by weather conditions, both current and the sudden changes typical in the mountains.

INDIVIDUAL HIKER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Survivors who have not hiked to Hidden Peak with the or anyone new to hiking and/or “out of shape” should hike using the buddy-system. Stop and rest or return to the trail head with if you feel you cannot continue.

2. So that you are not caught off-guard, familiarize yourself with the planned hike and the obstacles/challenges it presents by reading trail descriptions published in any of the local hiking guidebooks. “Hiking the Wasatch” published by the Wasatch Mountain Club is a very good general guide.

3. Come properly equipped for the conditions of the day’s hike. Bring adequate water and food, basic first aid supplies, additional clothing including rain gear, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. A small daypack or fanny pack will be needed to carry these items.

4. Children are welcome to accompany parents on the hike but they must be old enough and responsible enough to follow the instructions and physically prepared for the challenges of the hike. Parents bringing children on a hike are responsible for the oversight and control of their children and, if the children cannot complete the hike, are responsible for their safe return to the trailhead.

5. All persons participating in the hike must have a completed “Acknowledgment of Risks, Assumption of Risk, and Responsibility and Release of Liability” form on file.
